What helps Christian leaders keep their passion and integrity when their work becomes difficult? How can teaching and discipleship help people grow more into that kind of faithfulness?

I’m Andrew Yates. My work in Christian education and discipleship leads me into conversations about leadership, spiritual formation, and challenges facing educators and ministry leaders. This site is a place to share what I’m learning through research and practice.

Here I share the work I’m doing in churches, seminaries, and in everyday discipleship. In these monthly Field Notes, I plan to share a brief reflection, a question or idea to put into practice, and a link to something worth exploring further.

A good place to begin is my research on the resilience of Christian higher education administrators. Did you know the majority of Christian Higher Ed leaders are looking for a way out of their jobs? Not surprisingly, those who are thriving are marching to a different beat than that majority.
